Reclaim the Ridge Rally & Music Festival – Free

Friday September 5th at 3pm to Saturday September 6th at 5pm

Location: Lilly Pad Hopyard Brewery

Address: 920 Ridge Road Lancing, TN 37770

Join us at Reclaim the Ridge, a weekend of music, nature, and action to raise awareness and funds in opposition to Enbridge’s proposed Ridgeline gas pipeline—set to slice across 122 miles of Tennessee and make 162 waterway cuts through tributaries of the Obed Wild and Scenic River system. We’re gathering at the Lilly Pad Hopyard Brewery for an unforgettable time featuring live music by The Local Honeys, camping, hiking, swimming, and giant puppets from the Cattywampus Puppet Council!

It all kicks off Friday, September 5 and runs into Saturday afternoon. More details and full music lineup coming soon. Let’s celebrate what we’re fighting to protect. The Festival is organized by Ridgeline Voices and SAGE TN, two grassroots community groups working to protect Tennessee from the proposed Ridgeline gas pipeline, along with Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning (TCWP), Appalachian Voices, and the Sierra Club.

SAME SITE AS A COAL ASH DISASTER

TVA wants to build the gas plant in the same community where they caused the largest industrial spill in U.S. history — the 2008 Kingston Coal Ash Spill. Workers, who spent six years cleaning up the spill, were denied personal protective equipment by TVA’s cleanup contractor. Over 200 of them have come forward with illnesses, and more than 60 have died. An affected neighborhood was also replaced with a park. 2 3 4

1 . 6+ MILLION TONS OF AIR POLLUTANTS

TVA estimates the gas plant would emit over 1.6 million tons of air pollutants each year. In comparison, the solar and storage option that TVA is considering as a plant replacement would release zero air emissions.

59% EJ COMMUNITIES ON THE ROUTE

The majority of communities on the pipeline route* (59% of census block groups) are environmental justice communities where a high percentage of residents, relative to the county average, are low-income and/or people of color. *This includes communities within a mile of the proposed compressor station and meter and regulating stations.

707 WATERBODIES IMPACTED

Enbridge’s Ridgeline pipeline would cross waterbodies 405 times, with another 302 crossed by roads or within workspaces. These crossings include tributaries of the Obed River, a National Wild and Scenic River. This river is home to several threatened & endangered species, such as the Alabama lamp mussel that is found at only one other site in the world.

ENERGY MIX

TVA’s planned gas buildout by 2030 is the largest of all major utilities in the U.S., including private companies. The proposed 1,500+ MW gas replacement for Kingston is part of this massive investment in fossil infrastructure. Right now, TVA’s energy mix is only 4% wind and solar. 10

“This place is beautiful and worth saving.”
